Get a large container and decorate it with your baby theme. Ask guests to bring items that will be placed into a time capsule, such as newspapers, magazines, cd-s of current music, etc. Also ask each guest to write a note to the baby.

Give each guest a baby t-shirt and some markers to decorate as they please. Since newborns go through many outfits a day, any new mom will love having many cute tees! Buy different sizes of white tees (no more than 5 of each) and different colored permanent markers (ones especially for fabric are good, but not necessary). Prepare the t-shirts with paper in-between sheets of fabric so the paint will not bleed to the other side.

Prepare a number of blank cards; one for each guest. Pass the cards around with envelopes numbered for each guest. Ask everyone to write a birthday card to the baby for the year of his/her life on the card. It's a great gift for the baby, especially if older relatives are present who can then be remembered years later.

Have each guest write a question a new mother would ask on an index card (for example: How can I stop my baby from crying?). Gather the cards, mix them up and give one to each guest face down. Ask them to write on the back of this card the answer to the question they wrote at the beginning. Then give the cards to the mom-to-be who gets to read them out loud!
